Over the last few years, Professor James Cooper has facilitated interactive learning experiences in Tijuana, Mexico, at the U.S.-Mexico border at Otay Mesa and San Isidro, in Santiago de Chile, in Toronto, Canada and in Montreal, Quebec.

“If action in law is what you are looking for than attending the NAFTA Summer Program will be the best decision you make in all of law school. The professors will quickly lead you to the exact locations where important and critical issues of international law are being framed. They will introduce you to the exact people who work on, and fight over, these issues everyday. Finally, they will inspire you to become aware and active in such issues as market globalization and its effect on labor and the environment.
The experiences you will have in the NAFTA Summer Program will be unlike any other in law school. You will speak with the major players, visit border environmental clean up sites, and learn about typical operations at a maquiladora. Where else in law school are field trips the norm? I endorse the NAFTA Summer Program because it awakened my senses to the issues that surround us in San Diego everyday.”
