The Fair Trade Academy is directed by Professor James Cooper, Assistant Dean for Mission Development at California Western School of Law. He directs Proyecto ACCESO.
A Barrister and Solicitor, he has worked at the international law firm of Baker & McKenzie, consulted for ministries of justice around Latin America, the U.S. and German governments, and taught in law schools in Canada, Chile, Mexico, Paraguay, the United Kingdom, and the United States. He writes regularly for newspapers has appeared on television across the Americas.

Professor Garcia’s scholarship and teaching focuses on how globalization, race and immigration impact labor and employment law. His course on International Labor and Employment Law examines, among other topics, the ways that labor policy is being shaped by trade agreements such as the NAFTA and the Free Trade Agreement of the Americas.

Professor Finkmoore's interest in environmental issues began at Stanford Law School, where he was publications director of the Environmental Law Society and interned with the Natural Resources Defense Council. Following graduation, he taught at U.C. Berkeley School of Law (Boalt Hall), clerked for a justice of the Washington Supreme Court, served as an assistant attorney general for the State of Washington, and was in private law practice. Since joining the California Western faculty in 1988, Professor Finkmoore has specialized in environmental law. He has also taught regularly at the National Judicial College, the University of California, San Diego, and in foreign study programs sponsored by the Consortium for Innovative Legal Education. His passion is educating others about the current global environmental crisis and how law can address this challenge.
