Area of Concentration
Intellectual Property, Telecommunications & Technology Regulation
The importance of intellectual property, telecommunications and technology is evident in San Diego where world-leading companies have made the region a hub for bio-technology and telecommunications. This area of concentration provides students with a thorough overview of intellectual property and technology regulation in telecommunications and practical applications for the knowledge they gain.
Students receive a solid foundation in the core areas of Intellectual Property, Administrative Law, Creative Problem Solving, and Telecommunications Law. Electives allow students to explore a broad range of issues, including Cyberspace Law, Business Planning, Entertainment Law, International Business Transactions, Negotiations, Sports Law, and more.
Students are required to participate in both pro bono work and an internship supervised by the concentration's faculty advisor. Two scholarly papers and participation in a student or professional organization in a speciality area are also required.
The course offerings include Administrative & Legislative Law, Administrative Law, Alternative Dispute Resolution, Antitrust, Business Planning, Copyright Law, Cyberspace Law, Entertainment Law, First Amendment Seminar, Franchise Law, International Business Transactions, Licensing, Negotiation, Patent Law, Problem Solving Skills & Theory, Sports Law, Telecommunications Law, and Trademark Law.
