Dean Finster is a 1992 alum of CWSL and worked with the CWSL Alumni Board for several years.  She is married with two teenage children.   Since 2002, she has served as an adjunct professor at California Western teaching Advanced Mediation and ADR.  For the past five years, Dean Finster has served as an adjunct professor in the STEPPS Program.  In her private practice prior to joining CWSL full-time, Dean Finster focused on mediation, facilitation and training services in the San Diego area. 

Dean Finster provides leadership, management and direct services in the area of student affairs and is responsible for counseling students on academic and non-academic issues, reviewing petitions, implementing support programs and approving disability accommodations. In addition to advising for more than thirty co-curricular and extracurricular student organizations, she works closely with the Student Bar Association.

In collaboration with the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs, Dean Finster helps resolve disciplinary issues, including investigating Honor Code and student conduct complaints. In conjunction with the Meetings & Events unit, she oversees commencement and the annual Student Awards Program. Dean Finster also serves as a mentor to student organization leaders.

Marion Cloete facilitates the recruitment of underrepresented and non-traditional students to California Western. Cloete has improved the number of students from geographically and socially diverse environments tremendously. She attends local, regional and national law school fairs throughout the year.

Cloete also coordinates events and support services that are designed for these students and their particular needs, including the Buddy Program, which provides peer mentors for new law students, and non-academic counseling and intercultural skill programs. She is also the liaison to many diversity student organizations, including the Alumni Diversity Coalition and assists them in coordinating mentor programs, bar scholarships and organization web sites.

Monique Taylor is originally from Massachusetts and joined the Student & Diversity Services office in December 2010. Monique provides administrative support for the office of Student & Diversity Services and is the first point of contact for Diversity Services. Please contact Monique for questions and information specifically regarding Diversity Services programs, as well as general questions and information regarding Commencement, student organizations, scholarships and programming for Student & Diversity Services.


Francine Vasquez

Francine Vasquez joined the Student and Diversity Services in the Fall of 2013. She provides administrative support to the office and is the first point of contact for disability services and students requesting testing and classroom accommodations.

Francine is a native of Utah and enjoys the warm weather of sunny San Diego  over the snow any day. In her spare time she loves to travel, play table games and cook. She decided to join our team because she loves the daily interactions with students and staff. Francine is eager to help so if you have any questions regarding accommodations and programming for Student and Diversity Services, don’t hesitate to contact her.
