Professor Channick joined the California Western School of Law faculty in 1987. After graduating from law school in 1980, she spent seven years in law practice in the areas of tax, business, and estate planning. After teaching for a number of years in the transactional curriculum, Professor Channick became interested in the legal issues affecting health care and the elderly. In 2000-2001, she earned a Masters in Public Health from the Harvard University School of Public Health with an emphasis in health policy. Professor Channick currently teaches predominantly in the health law area and frequently speaks and participates in conferences devoted to domestic health law issues. Her scholarly interests have been in health law issues relating to an aging population, access to health care, design and implementation of health care reform, and, most recently, issues of health care cost containment. Professor Channick also co-directs and teaches in the joint health law master degree program, a collaborative degree program offered by California Western School of Law and the University of California, San Diego.
