Stafford/Graduate PLUS Entrance Counseling Perkins Entrance Counseling
Entrance interviews are required for all students receiving federal student loans for the first time at California Western School of Law. All borrowers receiving Stafford and/or Graduate PLUS loans must complete a Combined Stafford and PLUS Entrance Counseling Session at the Direct Loan Servicing website. Students should complete the combined session, even if they were not awarded one of the loan types.
Students receiving Perkins loans for the first time at California Western must also complete a separate Perkins Loan Entrance Counseling Session at MappingYourFuture.org.
If students cannot access the Internet elsewhere, the Financial Aid Office has a computer workstation which can be used.
Many new students have questions about financial aid which cannot be adequately addressed in an on-line counseling session. The Financial Aid Office encourages all new students to attend the financial aid information sessions which are conducted during Orientation. Consult the Orientation schedule, available from the Admissions Office, for dates and times.
Stafford/Graduate PLUS Exit Counseling Perkins Exit Counseling
Federal student loan borrowers who graduate or withdraw from school are required to complete a Stafford and/or Perkins exit counseling session. Stafford Loan borrowers must visit the Mapping Your Future web site and complete a Combined Stafford & Graduate PLUS exit counseling session.
Perkins loan borrowers will receive information from the Business Office instructing them how to complete their exit counseling.
To complement the information provided in the on-line counseling sessions, the Financial Aid Office conducts seminar-style information sessions for graduating students, about one month prior to graduation. Questions regarding loan repayment, deferment, consolidation, and financial planning will be addressed. We strongly urge graduating students to attend one of these sessions during their final term at California Western.
