California Western -- Financial Aid Office - Welcome
Welcome to the Financial Aid Office
Most students would not be able to afford law school without some form of financial assistance. The Financial Aid Office at California Western School of Law administers student loans and work-study programs, and also coordinates scholarships awarded by other departments, such as Admissions or Diversity Services.
How to Apply For Financial Aid
Check financial aid deadline dates: while you may apply for aid after these dates, the full array of aid sources may not still be available if you apply late.
Complete a 2013-2014 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The California Western School of Law institution code is G13103
Complete a California Western School of Law Online Financial Aid Application for 2013-2014 and submit it to the Financial Aid Office. The Fall 2013 aid application is available through the Online Aid System link above. The deadline for current students is April 1, 2013. For entering students, the deadline is April 1 or two weeks after admission, whichever is later. Students wishing to receive federal student aid must also complete a 2013-2014 FAFSA.
The Summer 2013 aid application is available on the Current Students secure website. All students who plan to attend a study abroad program in the summer, utilize Federal Work-Study during a summer break, or who will attend CWSL during the summer and do not already have an award for the summer, should complete the application by the 2/22/2013 deadline.
Yellow Ribbon Program - California Western will continue its participation in the Yellow Ribbon Program for 2012-2013. This program allows a limited number of students who receive benefits under the Post-9/11 GI Bill to receive additional tuition assistance. More details, and the 2012-2013 application, are available on our Veterans Benefits web page.
Subsidized Stafford Loan Discontinued For Grad Students - Effective with loan periods beginning on or after July 1, 2012, Federal Subsidized Stafford Loans are no longer available to graduate students. Instead, an equivalent amount of Unsubsidized Stafford Loan will replace the Sub Stafford in loan packages, so the total amount of Stafford Loan per year will remain at $20500 per two-trimester academic year.
