SofTest Instructions
SofTest Instructions

Introduction

SofTest is a program from ExamSoft which you can use to take exams on your laptop computer.  The use of SofTest is not mandatory.  You do not have to use SofTest for your exams.  Using SofTest allows you to type your essays during final exams, instead of having to write your essays during final exams.  CWSL is currently using SofTest version 11.

SofTest runs on Windows XP, Vista, and Windows 7.  At this time, SofTest will not run on Windows 8.

SofTest 11 runs on Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard, and above.  SofTest will not run on Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard.   If you have Leopard, you will need to upgrade in order to use SofTest.

If you choose to use SofTest, you do so at your own risk.  You are solely responsible for getting the answers to the essay questions turned in to the school for grading.

When you run an exam in SofTest, SofTest will lock your computer into a secure mode.  During the exam, you will be able to take your exam, and nothing else.  You will not have access to any other program or data files on your computer.  Once the exam is finished, SofTest will return your computer to normal mode, and will automatically upload your answers.

The cost for SofTest is $30 for one academic year.  This $30 license fee allows you to use SofTest until the end of next August, regardless of when you purchase the license.

The use of SofTest has been very successful here at California Western School of Law. Very few students have any problems with the program.  Technical Support is available for SofTest, both here at the school, and through ExamSoft.
