California Western -- F1 Extension

Extension of Stay for F-1 Students


Rules/Regulations
An F-1 student who is currently maintaining status and making normal progress toward completing his/her educational objective, but who is unable to complete his/her course of study by the program end date on the Form I-20, must apply for a Program Extension prior to the program end date.  Extensions may be granted for compelling academic or medical reasons. Delays caused by academic probation or suspension are not acceptable reasons for program extension.

What You Must Do
For administrative purposes, the M.C.L./LL.M. Office is requesting that a student applies for Program Extension at least 60 days prior to the end date on their I-20 form.

Deadline
60 days prior to the program end date noted on the Form I-20.The extension will be recorded in SEVIS immediately and an updated I-20 will be issued to the student with a new program end date.
