California Western -- F1 Reduced course load

Reduced Course Load (RCL) for F-1 Students

Rule/Regulations
The DSO may allow an F-1 student to engage in less than a full course of study. A reduced course load may be authorized for only one semester in a student’s entire program; however, for a medical reason, it may be authorized up to a total time of 12 months maximum, but must be authorized at the beginning of each semester.  A student who drops below a full course of study prior to the approval of the DSO will be considered out of status.

Anyone authorized for a reduced course load must take a minimum of 6 credit hours of study and must enroll full-time in the next regular semester.

What You Must Do
Notify the M.C.L./LL.M. Office before the beginning of the semester in which you want to take the RCL.  Remember that you must return to a full course of study the following semester and notify the M.C.L./LL.M. Office of such.

For F1 students taking less than a full course of study for medical reasons, first semester language or adjustment problems, please contact the M.C.L./LL.M Office.

Deadline
You must notify the DSO prior to dropping below the full course of study.

NOTE: Anyone who is not taking a Full Course of Study will be Out-of-Status and
should contact the M.C.L./LL.M Office.
