"Family values" is perhaps the most frequently invoked political incantation of our time. We are living in a time when understanding the basics of family law is vitally important to those who participate in shaping our society. At the same time, the need for practitioners who can provide legal services to clients in this area has also mushroomed. Divorce, abuse, out-of-wedlock births, artificial methods of conception, same-sex relationships, medical technology for sustaining life, an increasingly older population, and other cultural changes have created burgeoning areas of law where the advice and representation of attorneys are needed.

California Western's rich academic program in this area of law ranges from basic survey courses to specialized seminars and practicums. These courses are Aging, Law & Public Policy; Child Abuse and Neglect; Children and the Law; Community Property; Domestic Violence Seminar; Estate & Gift Tax; Estate Planning; Family Law; Federal Income Tax; Juvenile Justice; Mental Health Law; Problem Solving & Preventive Law; and Women and the Law.
