Each session includes a question and answer session.
Many graduates of California Western have registered with us and volunteered to speak with students informally and individually about career paths and related issues. We have information on each of these generous alumni housed in our office that will enable you to learn about and connect with a willing alumnus who has current insights in your areas of interest.
Though a tremendous amount of law job and career development information is now on-line, there are still many printed resources, directories, strategy books and periodicals that are crucial to your careful career development. Check out the Resource Library in our office to get an idea of what we've got . . . but remember, new materials arrive regularly, so check the stacks periodically too!
Legal employers come to California Western each year to interview our students for student law clerk and entry-level positions. These employers are primarily from San Diego, but others from elsewhere in California and around the country also participate.
We host the bulk of these employers during the Fall of each year during what you may have heard referred to as "Fall Recruitment". However, a few employers interview on campus during the Spring, again, primarily for second year students.
Keep your eyes on your email and on our bulletin board and website for details, and for employers considering first years. The competition for these positions is often extremely competitive, and the process is very time consuming, but the opportunities are excellent. Consult with us individually to determine your interest in meeting with these and other employers.
In conjunction with other Southern California law schools, we sponsor several Career Days which offer detailed programming in particular areas of law in addition to opportunities to meet practicing attorneys in the fields and interview for available positions. Look for Career Days in Public Interest Law, Sports and Entertainment Law, Government, and Solo and Small Practice.
Students who have completed 30 units of law school credits may ask to be assigned to a California Western Alumni Mentor. To schedule an appointment, call 619-525-7087.

The computers in our office are equipped to access the tremendous job search related information available on Westlaw, Lexis and on the Internet. We are happy to point you to databases that are relevant to your interests and you are welcome to use our career database limited passwords.
We assist alumni in requesting permission to use other law schools' career services offices if they are relocating to a different geographic area after graduation. To request reciprocity email Noelle Dorman at email@example.com. You can read the Reciprocity Policy here.
Students and alumni also benefit from the Consortium that consists of California Western School of Law, San Diego; New England School of Law, Boston; South Texas College of Law, Houston and William Mitchell College of Law, Saint Paul.
The Consortium is able to offer students at each of the member schools a more diverse legal education than they could get at any single American law school. All four of the schools have outstanding reputations; combined faculties number over 200; 3500 students attend the four campuses; and together the four schools can boast 30,000 alumni, from every state in the union.
You can also enjoy the experience of living in a new city while graduating from your home institution if you choose one of the Consortium schools. And each school has experienced and knowledgeable career services and placement offices, involved with community businesses and law firms.
