Academic Achievement

> Assistant Dean for Academic Achievement
Applications will be accepted through May 10, 2014.  The start date for this position is August 1, 2014.

Qualifications:  Bachelor’s Degree and J.D. required.  Experience with law school academic support and bar support required. Excellent written and oral communication skills are essential.  Prior administrative experience, including at least 5 years supervisory experience, and budget management essential.  Must be able to work with diverse constituencies.  Knowledge and experience with statistical studies beneficialDemonstrated administrative experience, exceptional interpersonal advisory and supervisory skills, complex project management abilities, and superlative oral and written communication skills are also essential.
 
Summary Description: 
This position is responsible for providing, coordinating, and supervising academic support and bar support programs for students at California Western.  The Assistant Dean must provide leadership for the department and effectively manage multiple tasks, programs, and responsibilities.  Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work with a highly diverse student and faculty population are required. A commitment to supporting students and promoting academic success in a rigorous law school environment is essential.

> Part-Time (20 hours) Administrative Assistant

Qualifications: Requires graduation from high school and a minimum of 3 years of mid-level administrative/clerical experience. Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint applications, modern office procedures, business English, grammar, spelling and punctuation required. Must be able to proofread documents for format and content errors, operate standard office equipment, and type at least sixty (60) words per minute.

Summary Description: Under the supervision of the Assistant Dean for Academic Achievement, the position provides administrative and clerical support in the Academic Achievement and Bar Program Departments. Responsible for operating word-processing, spreadsheet, and entry level database and power point programs in the preparation of letters, reports, and other detailed material. Interact tactfully and professionally with students, staff, faculty and vendors. Must pay attention to detail and provide accurate reports. Must maintain confidentiality of student files and information, in accordance with FERPA. Requires light lifting and carrying.


Business Office

> Part-Time (30 hours) Accounts Payable Specialist I

Qualifications: High school diploma with at least two years of experience in Accounts Payable or bookkeeping.

Summary Description: This individual will assist the Controller in carrying out the financial objectives of the institution; in particular the individual will assist with vendor Accounts Payable processing.

> Full-Time Accounts Payable Specialist II

Qualifications:  Associate’s Degree in Accounting or four years of equivalent accounting experience.

Summary Description:  This individual will assist the Controller in carrying out the financial objectives of the institution; in particular the Accounts Payable area.
 

Career Services


>Career Advisor, Pro Bono and Public Service Coordinator

Qualifications:  Juris Doctor degree and at least 5 years law practice experience.  Prior experience in higher education career services or significant legal recruiting or business development experience preferred.  Professional dress required.  Must be legally eligible to work in the United States. 
 
Summary Description:  The Interim Career Advisor, Pro Bono and Public Service Coordinator conducts one-on-one student and alumni counseling and maintains accurate and confidential records related thereto, including implementation of online career management tools and resources.  The Interim Career Advisor, Pro Bono and Public Service Coordinator participates in the development and delivery of the career development curriculum, including researching and preparing materials, promoting programming and presenting material to large and small groups.  The Interim Career Advisor, Pro Bono and Public Service Coordinator develops and oversees pro bono and public service opportunities for students and alumni, and implements facets of the Alumni Mentor, Alumni Career Advisor, Panel Series, Exploring Options, Mock Interview, Pro Bono and Public Service, Cover Letter and Resume Approval, Web and Social Media Programs, and related activities and events.  The Interim Career Advisor, Pro Bono and Public Service Coordinator also undertakes other projects and duties as assigned.



Faculty Support Services

>Copy Technician/Secretary

Qualification:  Minimum Level of Education:  Requires graduation from high school and a minimum of 1 year of responsible administrative/clerical experience, with substantial work in copy formatting and reproduction.  Typing speed of at least twenty-five (40) wpm.  Strong verbal and written communication skills are required.  Must have a full command of the English language both verbally and written.  Strong customer service skills a must.

Summary Description:  Under the supervision of the Director of Faculty Support Services, operates and maintains equipment and supplies for the copy center and 3rd and 4th floor copiers;  This position is responsible for prioritizing and completing assignments in a high volume copy center.  The primary focus of this position is providing copy/print services including binding and finishing work and assisting the team by providing administrative and clerical support in the Faculty Support Services department.  


Facilities Management

>Full-Time Maintenance Team Member

Qualifications: This position requires a minimum of three (3) years of related work experience performing building maintenance and remodeling work; completion of high school or its equivalent; or an equivalent combination of education and experience which results in possession of the knowledge, skills and abilities as listed below. Requires a general understanding and ability to read blueprints, drawings, and layouts. Must be thoroughly familiar with hand and power tools and various types of maintenance equipment. Must be proficient in providing basic carpentry, painting, and other semi-skilled and unskilled tasks. Daily access to a reliable vehicle, obtain and maintain a valid California driver’s license and personal vehicle insurance acknowledging the vehicle is used for employee’s work purposes. Must maintain a clean driving record. Must maintain credit rating in good standing as defined by CWSL’s policies.

Summary Description: The Maintenance Team member independently performs a variety of routine and semi-skilled tasks in support of the School’s physical facilities. The Maintenance Team member is responsible for the maintenance, repair and renovation of the law school’s physical facilities, including buildings, grounds and systems, by utilizing various levels of general maintenance, plumbing, mechanical, carpentry and electrical skills. This employee also serves to assist in event setups and breakdowns, and performs a variety of day porter tasks.

 

Human Resources

> Administrative Assistant to the V.P. of Human Resources

Qualifications:  Minimum Level of Education and/or Experience:  College degree required.  At least three years of progressively responsible experience in a high pace, deadline driven administrative support position.  Intermediate use of Microsoft Word and Excel are required.  Experience with Human Resources a plus. Professional attire and presentation is required.
 
Summary Description:  The Administrative Assistant reports directly to the Vice President of Human Resources. The Administrative Assistant’s primary responsibility is as the assistant to the Vice President of Human Resources and will be responsible for managing the Vice President’s schedule and assisting with the daily operations and activities of the department. The Administrative Assistant is also responsible for providing a variety of administrative and clerical duties for the Human Resources department, including front desk reception and customer service. 


Information Technology

>Full-Time Network Techinician

Qualifications: Minimum level of Education: Bachelor’s Degree and/or four year of experience supporting a Windows networking environment.

Summary Description: This position will work with the Network Engineer to support and maintain the network infrastructure in a multi-building campus environment. The Network Technician is the primary responder for IT helpdesk network-related requests and the secondary responder to workstation-related IT helpdesk requests. This position is also the primary contact for Student Computer Lab Technician regarding networking tasks.

Online Education

> Part-Time (30-hours) Instructional Designer & Course Developer

Qualifications: Minimum level of Education: A Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Learning Design and Technology, Instructional Technology, Educational Technology, Education, or related area of study. Part-time students at graduate or senior level in such a program will also be considered. Spanish-language fluency required.

Summary Description: Assists instructors in online and hybrid course development, particularly with respect to new Spanish-language online degree program for Latin American lawyers. Monitors synchronous online classes and provides technical support for online instructors and students. Assists in monitoring online student progress and communicates with students regarding technical problems. May participate in Web video production and editing. Telecommuting part of the time is acceptable but weekly meetings on campus are required.

Student and Diversity Services


> Assistant Dean for Student and Diversity Services

Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree and J.D. required.  (In exceptional cases, additional experience may be used to offset the education requirements.)  Must have at least five years experience in a supervisory capacity. Experience in higher education is strongly preferred.  Must have experience in counseling, student affairs, or related fields. Demonstrated administrative experience, budget management, exceptional interpersonal advisory and supervisory skills, complex project management abilities, and superlative oral and written communication skills are also essential.
 
Summary Description: This position provides leadership, management, counseling, support, and direct services for students at California Western. With the Director for Diversity Services, this position is also responsible for enhancing diversity of our student body through program development and assistance. This position acts as a liaison for students interacting with faculty, department heads, staff, and other constituents. This position takes a lead role as a representative for California Western at student functions. Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work with a highly diverse student and faculty population are required. Successful applicants must possess the ability to offer care, counseling, and support to students in a rigorous law school environment.
