Grading in STEPPS will be according to the regular law school grading curve for the class size. Students will receive separate grades for each trimester. The low student/faculty ratio in the Law Offices will allow great emphasis on constructive evaluation and feedback. The goal is to help each student reach his or her maximum potential. Students will have opportunities to practice the lawyering skills and get feedback on exercises before they will be graded on the particular skill.
Each trimester the grades will be determined based on several components such as case work (including written work), examination on Professional Responsibility, and participation in the Law Office activities and discussions (including the effort that goes into preparation for the skills practice exercises). This combination of components allows each student to get credit for a variety of ways of demonstrating mastery of material and competencies to practice law.
