The California Western School of Law Alumni Association is led by a Board of Directors who oversees the strategic direction of the Association. The Board of Directors assists the Office of Alumni Engagement in our mission to foster and nurture meaningful, lifelong, mutually beneficial connections, and relationships.  Membership into the Alumni Association is automatic upon graduation and offers the following benefits:

  • No annual dues
  • Volunteer Leadership opportunities (Alumni Engagement Office, Career and Development Office, and Admissions Office)
  • Invitations to social/networking events and programs
  • Online alumni newsletters
  • Regional Alumni Clubs in 15 different locations
  • Connecting alumni with others throughout the country
  • Continuing education courses offered (in-person and online)

The goal of the Association is to provide opportunities for engagement and involvement though a variety of channels, such as, but not limited to, programs, events, leadership, advocacy, mentoring and teaching opportunities, as well as offering resources, services and ways to stay connected.  The Association annually seeks to secure alumni to serve as leaders of the Association.

The Association fosters involvement and engagement through the following six committees:

1. Alumni of the Year Awards Committee
  • An honorary award ceremony dedicated to acknowledging  alumni for their outstanding service to the law school, community and legal profession

2. Continuing Education Committee
  • Annual January MCLE program (open to all San Diego attorneys)

3. Networking and Community Advancement Committee
  • Alumni/Student sporting events 

  • Golf outing

  • Law firm networking receptions

  • Networking events to connect and engage our alumni and student community

  • Volunteer Day of Service

4. New Alumni Program

  • Building relationships with new alumni (1-3 years after graduation)

5. Supporting the Law School Committee:

  • Support annual giving efforts of engagement

In addition to the programs and activities listed above the board partakes in additional outreach; 

  • Bar Association (local and regional)

  • Campus focus groups

  • Community Events

  • Council of Visitor’s Meetings

  • Mock Interviews /Career Mentors

  • Oath of Professional Conduct

  • Regional Alumni Club Events
