The latest issue of San Diego Lawyer, the flagship publication of the San Diego County Bar Association, highlights many successes of California Western School of Law people and programs.
The cover story features alumnus Jon R. Williams ‘92, the SDCBA’s new president, who balances his work as a partner with Boudreau Williams LLP with an active family life, including 100-mile bicycle rides and backcountry camping with his two sons.
The law school and its alumni are highlighted in several other articles:
In her final President’s Column, Marcella O. McLaughlin ‘98, outgoing SDCBA president, writes about the bar’s “giant leap forward” in 2013, especially the opening of the association’s beautiful new Bar Center at 401 in downtown San Diego, which hosts networking events and career programs for attorneys and law students.
In a Q- and-A interview, Karla C. Pinckes ‘01, Business Contracts Manager at the Ken Blanchard Companies, talks about her position outside the traditional law firm environment as in-house counsel.
A feature on global exchanges between law schools highlights a visit to San Diego by Brazilian Supreme Court Justice Dias Toffoli, who has a strong connection to the American Legal Studies and Exchange -Brazil program recently launched at California Western.
In her colorful story, “One Step at a Time," Elizabeth G. Blust ’09 chronicles the journey of Professor Justin Brooks and California Innocence Project attorneys Alissa L. Bjerkhoel ’08 and Michael A. Semanchik ’10 from San Diego to Sacramento for the Innocence March. Their 712-mile walk sought to raise awareness of the “California 12,” a dozen men and women who remain incarcerated despite compelling stories of innocence.
Finally, the “Distinctions” column highlights California Western’s three newly elected trustees: Imran Jaswal, Robert Richley, and Eberhard Rohm.
