Giving Tuesday Campaign Exceeds All Expectations

A group of students thanking all who donated during Giving Tuesday

California Western’s Giving Tuesday Campaign was a major success—exceeding everyone’s expectations—as the law school’s supporters kept giving, and giving, and giving.

Because of the amazing support of our community, our Board of Trustees’ generous match, and a few surprise gifts from our Board, we raised a total of $145,604.16.

We not only significantly surpassed our $80,000 goal, but we more than doubled our campaign total from last year and increased donor participation by 130 percent.

“Giving Tuesday was phenomenally successful,” said Brian Daly, California Western’s director of development. “I would like to acknowledge the hard work of the California Western development team—Melissa Wells, Luke Dumas, and TC Wilson—in helping to bring about this success.”

California Western wishes to thank every one of the 208 alumni and other friends who stepped forward to support the law school on Giving Tuesday. In particular, we wish to acknowledge:

  • The members of the California Western Board of Trustees for their “challenge match” totaling $48,700
  • The faculty, staff, and students of the law school, who contributed in greater numbers than ever before
  • Members of our Council of Visitors, who generously participated in fundraising for the first time this year, donating a total of $5,800
  • Members of the Hawaii Regional Alumni Association Club for providing generous contributions, via Giving Tuesday, for the newly established Kulia i ka nu’u Scholarship Program, which will support California Western students from the Hawaiian Islands

“I would like to thank personally the many donors who gave to the law school on Giving Tuesday,” said California Western President and Dean Niels B. Schaumann. “To reach its potential, every law school needs a network of alumni and friends, and California Western is very lucky to have some of the most devoted alumni and friends of any American law school. This was clearly evident on Giving Tuesday, and we are deeply grateful for that."
