New Media Rights Receives Grant in Support of Consumer Privacy Protection Efforts

The New Media Rights (NMR) program at California Western received a $40,000 grant from the Rose Foundation, acknowledging their work on critical issues related to consumer privacy.

The foundation's Consumer Privacy Rights Fund awards projects, like NMR, that educate users, regulators, and enterprises on the protection of privacy, identity, and personal information.

"We're grateful for the support of the Rose Foundation, which is a recognized leader in the consumer privacy field," says Art Neill, executive director of New Media Rights. "This grant will ensure we can continue to expand our scope of work and meet the increasing demand for privacy-related legal services."

By receiving the Rose Foundation grant, New Media Rights was specifically recognized for helping startup companies, app developers, and nonprofits develop data-stewardship strategies to prevent costly consumer privacy violations before they happen, and for creating online educational resources that serve those with whom the law school clinical program does not directly interact.
