California Western Welcomes Over 100 Students to New Maestría Class

New Maestría Class

This month, California Western welcomed 103 new students on campus to this year’s Maestría class.

“For the past four years we have seen our admissions numbers increase,” says Prof. Brooks who is Director of the program. “This year we have 103 students from 9 different countries without doing any advertising beyond social media and word of mouth. It is a testament to the quality of our program.”

The Maestría en Derecho con Especlallzacion en Litigación Oral is a program that is provided by California Western’s Instituto Latinoamericano de Derecho y Justicia (ILDJ) or Latin American Institute of Law. It is an online academic program for licensed attorneys taught entirely in Spanish, offering participating students additional knowledge and practice for professional development.

“For more than two decades California Western has been training lawyers across Latin America on litigation skills,” says Prof. Brooks. “This training has been critical throughout Latin America as country after country has converted to an American-style trial system.”

The opportunity to earn a law degree in Spanish from an American law school is unique to California Western, and Maestría is one of four programs offered by the ILDJ. The other three programs are ACCESO Capacitación, the Mexican Moot Court Program, and REDlnocente.

“I'm very proud of this program,” says Prof. Brooks. “I truly believe that we are providing a great education to our students to the benefit of their future clients.”
