California Western's Community Law Project (CLP) has recently been awarded grants which will enable the Project to continue to support the legal needs and education of residents across San Diego County and provide them with consumer law related assistance.
The Solana Beach Fund, part of the Coastal Community Foundation, awarded CLP a grant of $5,000 to support Solana Beach community members with legal advice and education.
The American College of Bankruptcy Foundation awarded CLP $10,000, which will enable it to continue to provide bankruptcy and consumer law related assistance to San Diego County residents.
“The Community Law Project is especially grateful for the support we received this year from the Solana Beach Fund and the American College of Bankruptcy Foundation,” said Dana Sisitsky, CLP’s Executive Director.
“Funding received from the Solana Beach Fund will allow us to meet the increased pandemic related legal needs we have seen from Solana Beach residents, as well as provide critical legal education to these residents and others in neighboring North County communities,” continued Sisitsky. “Funding from the American College of Bankruptcy Foundation comes at a time when consumer and bankruptcy related issues are at an all-time high. This funding will assist us in providing legal advice and counsel, and coordinating representation, for dozens of clients facing financial struggles.”
Due to the COVID-19 health emergency, CLP had to close all their in-person legal clinics. However, CLP has continued to provide their much-needed legal services through phone intakes and Zoom clinics.
