Wednesday, June 27, Professor Glenn Smith was in the studios of KUSI News and KPBS San Diego to discuss the recent U.S. Supreme Court rulings and the retirement of Justice Anthony Kennedy.
During the interview with KUSI, he discussed the Trump administration's travel ban that restricts citizens from Iran, Syria, Libya, Yemen, Somalia, North Korea, and certain Venezuelan government officials from entering the United States.
Professor Smith then commented on the case National Institute of Family and Life Advocates v. Becerra in which the Court struck down disclosure requirements for pro-life centers passed by the California legislature.
He concluded his KUSI interview with comments on Janus v. AFSCME. In this case, the Court ruled that non-union members no longer have to pay their "fair share" for union representation in collective bargaining negotiations.
Later that day, Professor Smith appeared on KPBS' Midday Edition and talked further about Janus v. AFSCME and then commented on the ramifications for the Supreme Court of Justice Anthony Kennedy's retirement.
