California Western Students Receive Korean American Bar Association Scholarships

Jin Hee Park (L) and Christina Tantoy (C) receive their KABA scholarship awards

The Korean American Bar Association of San Diego (KABA) has selected two California Western students for its 2014 Bar Exam Scholarships.

Christina J. Tantoy and Jin Hee Park, both 3Ls, received scholarship awards at KABA's annual dinner recently.

"Receiving a scholarship from KABA is a tremendous honor," says Tantoy, who is president of the Asian Pacific American Law Student Association (APALSA) at the law school. "Words alone cannot express my gratitude for KABA's support and encouragement throughout law school—especially as I move forward to the bar exam."

"Receiving this scholarship means that other attorneys see potential in me and are willing to support me," says Park, who is California Western's student representative to KABA. "I am very encouraged by that and look forward to graduating and taking the bar exam."

The KABA scholarship committee reports that it had a number of very deserving candidates this year, and the committee members feel that Tantoy and Park, along with the other applicants, are headed for meaningful, successful careers.

California Western alumna Angela Jae Chun '06 was recently elected as KABA's new president. She is an associate with San Diego's Casey Gerry.
