California Western’s Distinguished Advocate trial team of 2L Felicia M. Loera, 2L Derek S. Reid, 2L Charlotte S. Najar, and 3L Monty Randhawa has won the San Diego Defense Lawyers Competition. All of them are first-time competitors.
Loera, Reid, Najar, and Randhawa were selected first by the judges in all rounds of the national competition—a complete “sweep.” The two teams California Western defeated in the semifinals and finals were both from Santa Clara University School of Law.
“Our record in this national competition is truly unprecedented,” said Lindsey M. Willard ‘13, who coached the team along with Katie A. Nagler ’14 and Marlene M. Balderas ‘15. “My fellow coaches and I couldn't be prouder of Charlotte, Derek, Felicia, and Monty! They demonstrated immense teamwork, dedication, skill, and determination—everything our program at California Western strives for.”
“All of the coaches—Lindsey, Katie, and Marlena—are Distinguished Advocates who give selflessly of their time to give back to the program,” said Practitioner in Residence Mario G. Conte, faculty advisor to the Moot Court Honors Board.
Congratulations from everyone at California Western.
