CAP Trial Team Wins 2018 SDDL National Trial Competition

California Western is the 2018 Champion of the San Diego Defense Lawyers National Trial Competition.

The CWSL team defeated last year’s winner, the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill in the final round.

Hailing the win, Competitive Advocacy Program (CAP) Faculty Advisor Mario Conte said, “This is a wonderful achievement by a team with two rookies, Abrey Zora and Schaefer Whiteaker, paired with two veterans, Amanda Shayota and Micha Mesure. The coaches, Jason Conge, Javier Rios and Ashley Sanchez, all graduates of the CAP Program, were so instrumental in combining the hard work of the competitors with the teaching talents of these coaches. I am so proud of all of these folks.”

California Western is well known in San Diego and the nation for the success of its competition teams. The current fall season runs September through November. The CAP Program develops fierce competitors and profession-ready advocates who go on to become great attorneys.

“This is a great start to a new competitive season for the MCHB/CAP Program under the leadership of Michelle Kellogg and her terrific Executive Board,” added Conte.
