Individual Career Advising
Individual meetings with Career Advisors are the quickest and best way to get information about different practice areas of interest and to develop a job search strategy that is tailored to the student.
Mock Legal Job Interviews
Several times throughout the year, we offer opportunities to practice the skill of interviewing with practicing attorneys from the community and receive feedback and suggestions for improvement. In mock law job interviews with career advisors, students practice their interviewing skills with a member of our staff at individual appointments.
Online Job Database - Symplicity
Legal employers from San Diego and around the country frequently notify our office of current job openings for student law clerks and entry-level or experienced attorney positions. We immediately post that information on our online job database, Symplicity.
Our Lobby is Your Personal Business Office
Student career development and job search requires access to a quality printer, copier, scanner, fax machine, and the internet. We offer all of this at no charge for students and alumni, and accept donations to use our quality paper and envelopes for correspondence (with proceeds going to California Western's student Public Interest Law Foundation to fund summer clerkship grants). Also, if you just need a quiet place to relax or read, you are always welcome to use our office as your office.
We assist students and alumni in requesting permission to use other law schools' career services offices if they are relocating to a different geographic area after graduation or to find summer internships outside of San Diego county.
Students have access to printed job resources available in our office that relate to specific practice areas.
Calendar & Social Media
The CPDO posts notices about upcoming professional events on campus and around San Diego on bulletin boards (located on the second floor of the 350 Building), the Student Portal, the campus calendar, and on CPDO's social media accounts.
