2026 Commencement Speakers Address Graduates

Congratulations, members of the Class of 2026, on reaching this remarkable milestone
and embarking on your professional journeys. As you step into the next chapter, let
the wisdom of our commencement speakers inspire and guide you.
Commencement speaker, the Honorable Michael Groch, Presiding Judge of the San Diego
Superior Court, reminded us: "Your authentic self is not a liability. It is the foundation
of your resilience and effectiveness. It is what allows you to navigate and withstand
life’s inevitable valleys, supported by those who truly know you."
Malalai Fazilat, our student commencement speaker, emphasized: "We are not just graduates.
We will soon become officers of the court. We are entrusted with something sacred:
the responsibility to use our knowledge ethically, courageously, and compassionately."
California Western School of Law Dean and President, Miriam Baer, encouraged us with
this message: “Remember your network, your community, and your school. We will always
be your resource and your rock, ready to provide guidance when you need it, to celebrate
in your many achievements, and to always be a source of friendship throughout.”
