Forbes Cites California Innocence Project for Innovative AI Work
In the wake of its 40th exoneration, the California Innocence Project (CIP) at California Western School of Law (CWSL) continues to make news.
This week, Forbes magazine published an article detailing CIP’s recent collaboration with the AI-software developer, CoCounsel. As an early beta tester for Casetext, Co-Counsel’s generative AI legal assistant, CIP has been at the forefront of a revolution in innocence work.
As Forbes notes, Casetext helps CIP with “the time-consuming and highly technical work of reviewing mountains of evidence and case law connected to their investigations.” This frees up attorneys and student interns to focus on the work that humans do best—litigating for justice.
Given the news, it is fitting that next week Dean Scott and CWSL will officially launch the Law, Justice, and Technology Initiative (LJTI), which will entail a comprehensive overhaul of the curriculum and resources we offer our students. We are committed to providing students with an education that empowers them to use the latest legal technologies ethically and effectively and to navigate the complexities of new technology law as it arises.
CIP attorneys continue to use Casetext to streamline their innocence investigations and to prepare student interns to be the fierce champions of justice they aspire to be.
