California Western School of Law’s New Media Rights Clinic and alumnus Alvin Gomez ’88 were honored at the SDCBA’s Annual Awards Ceremony & Celebration of Community Service. 

The New Media Rights Clinic was awarded the 2026 SDCBA Distinguished Organization Award for its remarkable contributions and lasting impact on the legal system, legal community, profession, and civics education. Executive Director Art Neill, Assistant Program Director Erika Lee ’17, recent graduate Casey Manuel, and 3L Jaylene Potter accepted the award at the ceremony. Casey and Jaylene both served as student fellows in the clinic during Fall 2025 and Spring 2026. 

Alumnus Alvin Gomez ’88 received the Outstanding Attorney Award in recognition of his longstanding leadership, mentorship, professionalism, and significant contributions to the legal profession and the San Diego legal community. 

Colleagues and friends, The Honorable Michael Groch ’88, Gayani Weerasinghe ’13, Associate Director of Student Affairs Jeff Chinn, and Assistant Director of Projects and Employer Development Noelle Dorman attended the ceremony in support of the honorees. 

These awards celebrate their outstanding service in the San Diego legal community. We are proud of the New Media Rights Clinic and alumnus Alvin Gomez ’88 for earning this recognition.
