Leslie A. Morsek

Biography

Leslie Morsek joins California Western School of Law with a multifaceted background in legal practice, regulatory compliance, and legal education. Her teaching emphasizes developing well-rounded practitioners with strong critical-thinking skills, ethical foundations, and the ability to advocate zealously yet compassionately.

Professor Morsek has taught as an adjunct professor of law at the University of San Diego (USD) School of Law and the University of Akron School of Law, teaching courses in Legal Research and Writing and Contract Drafting. She has served as a lecturer for USD’s International Scholars Seminar and UC San Diego’s Future Global Leaders program, educating international scholars, judges, and students on the U.S. legal system. She also worked at UC San Diego, where she led the regulated research cybersecurity program. In that role, she managed complex regulatory requirements and ensured institutional compliance with federal cybersecurity standards.

Professor Morsek’s professional background also includes service as a judicial staff attorney for the presiding judge of Ohio’s Ninth District Court of Appeals and practice as a litigation attorney at Squire Patton Boggs, where she specialized in complex products liability and asbestos matters. Her scholarly work includes published research examining expert evidence and the judicial “gatekeeper” function in legal proceedings.

Professor Morsek earned her J.D., magna cum laude, from the University of Akron School of Law and her LL.M. from the University of San Diego School of Law.

Beyond her academic and professional work, Professor Morsek is committed to community service and currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Junior League of San Diego as Director of Compliance.
